Here is another post that Melissa wrote for my blog. This was originally posted on 9/10/2010. It was entitled Love Letters To Yourself. There is much I can say about this post or about her today. I am going to write a post about her and I would love to be able to include any memories that you have of her. I love you Melissa!

Love Letters To Yourself

In a previous guest post I briefly mentioned writing love notes to yourself, something I like to do. I find that writing myself love notes is a wonderful way to keep myself motivated and feeling good about myself. Love notes do not have to be long, just a few short words on a post-it-note are just as valuable as writing a long letter to myself.

There are times though, when only a long letter will do. Not just a long letter, but something like how people used to write letters long ago. Letters containing pressed flowers, smelling of perfume or having lovely pictures. Even writing them with a fancy pen that is only reserved for my special letters. It is all about making myself feel good and taking care of myself. I like to save these letters. Pulling them out when I need to hear special, loving words.

I believe that no one knows better what I need to hear to build me up than myself. These letters do that when, for whatever reason, my family cannot fill that need for me.

You never want the letter writing to yourself to become a chore, something you feel like you have to do, so don't do it very often. It is about loving yourself, showing yourself compassion, not one more thing in the long list of things that you must do. Don't get bogged down in using proper grammar, or punctuation, or making it perfect. It is about love, not about perfection.

Make the time that you take to write these letters to yourself special. If you find that you cannot get time alone during the day to do this, try it after the rest of your family goes to bed. Play some soft music, light a few candles, take some time and clear your mind before you get started. Think about the wonderful things you want to say. If you cannot do all that, you can still make that time special by putting some pressed flowers in your letter, decorating the envelope, even putting inspirational pictures from magazines and photographs in it. You could crush some fragrant herbs and put them in, or include your own drawings (even if they are only stick figures). Write some quotes on little slips of paper and stick those in as well.

Start your letters off with terms of endearment, like "Dear" and then put as much love and compassion into the letter to yourself as you can. Write it to someone you love dearly. As difficult as it might be, do your best to not write it in the first person. An example of this is:

Dear Melissa,

You are a wonderful person. I love how strong and self confident you are. You are a beautiful, inside and out. I value you. I admire the compassion you showed to those hurting people today. (and just keep going)

In your letters to yourself you could write about your good qualities, something you did that you are proud of, and things that bring you love and joy. Write about a walk you took, or a special time you spent with another person. You could write about something loving another person did or said to you. Use your imagination, write only about the things that build you up.

You can write your letter all at one time, or take a whole month to write it, adding bits and pieces here and there. Do it the way that works best for you.

On your hard days, on those days when you are hurting and your self worth has taken a blow, pull out your love letters to remind yourself what a wonderful person you are. Read them all, or read only one, whatever it takes to heal your hurting heart.

If you decide to try writing a love letter to yourself, I would enjoy hearing about it. Only as much as you feel comfortable sharing.

Melissa-You Inspire Me

Some of you will know that Melissa used to post on my blog. For those of you who don't know Melissa passed away last night after they took her off of life support. I am sad that she is no long with us but I am so glad that I have some of her writing that I can look back on a remember her by. She was a great person and I looked at her more as a mother figure than as a friend. This post is a post she wrote about me on 10/1/2010. I am re-posting it because what she said to me is how I feel about her. I am going to take the next few days off of writing but I am going to re-post some the posts she wrote for my blog. I am also going to be writing a post about her and that should be up in the next few weeks. If you have any memories that I can include if you would please leave them that would be great.

Most of the time when I write, my primary goal is to write about something that I find inspiring. Once I put it all down, I can only hope that my readers find it as inspiring as I do. Today's post is really no different, except instead of writing about a topic or idea that I find inspiring, I am going to say a few things about a person I find inspiring.

You inspire me because not only do you have to live with all the normal day to day struggles that we all have, you also have some unique physical challenges that you could use justify a life of inactivity. Instead you do the opposite. You make no excuses. You do what you can, which is often more than what someone with a healthy body would/could do.

You are one of the kindest people I know. No matter how you feel, you have a kind word for me.

You are a shining example of strength in the face of difficulties. I admire your courage.

You have such a giving spirit. You are quick to make sure the people around you are doing okay.

You are a beautiful person, inside and out!

A Week In My Life-Thursday

I am so glad it is Thursday. Work has been nuts this week to say the least. I was super busy today but something happened that made it a super hard day. I am not sure if you guys know Melissa from Sugar Filled Emotions but no one can get a hold of her and we are worried that she may have committed suicide last night. I really don't have it in me to write a post about my day. I am sorry but I don't feel right writing tonight. I will be back on and write about my Friday.

If everyone could please say a prayer that she is okay and that someone found her and she is getting help and didn't kill herself. I look at her like she is my mom and I am super depressed about everything going on. So all I can say is please pray she is okay.

A Week In My Life-Wednesday

5:45 AM-My alarm goes off for the first time. Although this morning I didn’t hear it. My phone has been freezing up lately so I don’t know that it went off until after I was already awake and had turned off the phone and restarted it.

6:30-When I actually got out of bed and started to get ready for the day. It doesn’t take me that long to get ready on mornings that I don’t wash my hair so I can get up about 6:30 and be ready to leave by like 7:05.

7:05-Left the house and started the commute from hell. I usually get to work about 7:30 but I don't have to start working til 8. Anyway let me just say I didn't get to work until 8:20. I couldn't believe how long it took me to get to work.

8:20-12:00-I worked like mad and didn't seem to get anything done at all. The phones have been nuts the last few days and when they go crazy it is all I can do to keep up with them let alone put out all the fires that the men I work with make.

12:00-1:00-Is my lunch time. Today on lunch I finished yesterdays post and got that posted and I also read my book. I always forget to eat on lunch because I get caught up in the book I am reading or the YouTube video I am watching.

1:00-5:00-Was more crazy time with the phones and the people I work with.

5:30-I was finally home and ate my dinner(Subway) and took my shower and washed my hair.

8:00-I am typing up the post now and I have the dvd of "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" playing for my movie tonight. I am going to finish this post and lay down. I am still super tired from yesterday because I was up late and got home to late to take my pills for sleeping.

Tuesday

I am so sorry that this post is up super late. I got home super late last night and then I was late to work today because of accidents and horrible traffic.

Welcome to Day 2 of a week in my life. Today I took lots of pictures so I am going to post them and explain them to everyone. I wanted to take video but my phone isn't working and I don't know where our camera is so all I have are pictures.

These first few were on my way to work. I have about a 20 minute commute most days. It is worse when it snows or there are accidents along the way. It was also super cold and yucky looking in the morning on the way to work.

These last two pictures are a few of the things I do at work while I should be "working". I am reading the Flowers In The Attic series right now and they are super good. I can't wait to finish the second book and start the third one. Yesterday at work wasn't to bad just lots of phone calls and issues.

I took these pictures on my way to Misti's house. The last one shows the snow that is slowly coming down the mountain. I can't believe it is already winter again. It seems like it just stopped snowing and got warm. Like I said I went to Misti's house after work. I was there till around 8:30 and then I went home. While I was there we talked about baby names and found the girl name that we love and couldn't figure out a boy name but we do have 9 months so we aren't that worried about it. That is pretty much all that happened yesterday. I hope you all had a good day and I will see you all tomorrow with my Wednesday post!

Multiple Sclerosis Update

It has been a long time since I have written a post about Multiple Sclerosis and I really want to keep everyone in loop on what is going on with my health and all that fun stuff. Most of you know that I have an infusion once a month for my MS treatment. I take a medication that is called Tysabri. It is super expensive and can be dangerous but that is going to be another post. I was supposed to receive my infusion on the 23rd of September. That didn’t end up happening because the company I work for changed health insurance companies and I had to wait for a preauthorization to come through before I could get my treatment. So I show up on the 23rd and they send me home because of the whole insurance issue. For those that know a little bit about my job and what has been happening the the last 4 months or so you know that I can only take one day off a month because they have no one to cover the phones since they let go Misti who used to be my boss. So I knew I was going to have to wait a few weeks before I could take time off to go in and get the treatment once they got the approval that they needed.

My next infusion is on the 21st of October, which means that I have missed a whole month. Let me just tell everyone I have no idea how I used to live like this because I feel like crap. I always knew Tysabri was helping but I had no idea that it was helping so much. For the last 6 months or so I have had headaches and I also haven’t been in pain. Well since missing one month I hurt I have headaches and am exhausted. I literally slept almost all of Saturday because I was so exhausted from a normal week of work. I had to call my doctor and have her call in more pain pills because I was out and hadn’t need them so I didn’t bother getting a refill when I saw her last time. I feel so bad for people with MS that fill like this all the time. I am so glad that I have found an MS treatment that works for me and allows me to be a somewhat normal 26 year old. Also my hands are super numb right now and I am not sure if that is because I missed my treatment or just how the disease is acting right now.

I can’t remember if I wrote about my last MRI and doctor’s appointment so I am going to do a quick recap of all that information. I had my latest MRI in August and also saw the doctor after the results came in. According to the scan I am still stable and have been for about 2 years or so. They haven’t scanned my neck in a few years so when I go for my next MRI in February they are going to scan my brain and neck areas which means that it will be a super long and super expensive scan. I am interested to see if there have been any changes in the neck area. If there hasn’t been any changes that means I have been stable but if there are charges that means that I really haven’t been stable all this time. I hate the not knowing that goes along with having MS.

A Week In My Life

So this week I am going to be linking up over at Adventuroo. She is a doing "A Week In My Life". I have never done anything like this but I am excited to follow along so that everyone can see what a typical week is like for me. For these posts you can vlog, take pictures and/or write about your week. I am going to try and take pictures as I go through my day so you can see my day. I also may video some of my day as well. I am sure everyone would get a good laugh out of some of the things that happen at work. As most of you know I am the only girl in the building anymore so things can get crazy at times! This first picture is what I can see from my desk at work:

Monday's are always crazy for me and I didn't have time to take many more pictures. I am going to try hard to take video tomorrow but I am not sure if it will let me upload it because my Blackberry is having major issues right now so I am going to try. If it won't let me take video and upload it then I will for sure take lots of pictures so everyone can see what I do.

Today I just answered phones, typed up the bid list and put out fires as them came. I did come home after work and get a few things done on my own blog and also started some new designs for clients. I am getting ready to lay down so I am hoping I will have more for tomorrow!

Before I start this post I want to apologize if this postrambles. I just wrote the thoughts in myhead as they came.

I have follow a few different blogs written by birth mothersand I also belong to a group on Facebook that is for birth mothers aswell. Recently I read a postthat was written by a birth mom that made me start to think about how somepeople in the world look at birth moms and how people don’t want to learn aboutadoption. I have never regretted placing my daughter foradoption and I also haven’t had people say things to me about how they thinkwhat I did was wrong but I have gottenthe looks from people. I get so tired ofpeople being ignorant and rude to birth moms but not listening or let the birthmom explain why she did what she did. I wantto let the world know that birth moms choice to give their child a better lifethan what we could have provided them. Iam always willing to tell my story so that other people can be educated aboutadoption.

It is also hard for me to understand how some people can beso closed minded that they will judge us but not take the time to listen tous. Some people don’t understand howhard it is to place a baby for adoption and then get judged and tell us that wemade the wrong choice. I have always been the type of person that ifI don’t personally agree with a person’s choice I take the time to listen andhear the reason behind their choice. Iknow not everyone will like the choice we made but at least give a chance toexplain why we made our choice. I guessthe point of this post was to ask people to respect our choices. Our choice was right for us and it may not bethe choice for you but for use it was the right choice.

Reserving Space. . .

This post started out talking about my husband and how he made me feel but I realized that this is something I need to work on and I need to make time for people I care about. I find it funny that in trying to write a post about how doing this made me feel I can see how I make people feel when I do the same thing. That being said I hope you enjoy the post and will stick around for me change!

I also have to admit that I am not great at putting out the effort to stay in peoples lives so they know I care. I get so busy doing everything that I do that I don't make the time and then when I am finally done for the day and lay down it is all I can do to operate the remote control but I am going to get better at this because I have to!!!!! I can't expect people to do all the work. I think I am going to start talking to people I care about when I get home while I am working on designs instead of watching TV all night long. I also need to rearrange my schedule a little bit so I can fit everything that needs to get done everyday. So I want everyone I care about to know things are going to change and I am going to make more of an effort to stay in contact with everyone and get a set routine with working and designing.

This post started out talking about my husband and how he made me feel but I realized that this is something I need to work on and I need to make time for people I care about.

She also has a post about building a bird garden in her yard. I so wish that I could do this in my yard because I love watching birds but as you all know I have 3 cats and they would see that a play area. I can't even imagine how many of the birds they would try and catch. Once my kids have passed away I think I will make a bird garden so I can enjoy looking at the birds!

30 Things About My Invisible Illness

I know that Invisible Illness week is over but I wanted to fill this out so that I can update my MS page.
1. The illness I live with is: Multiple Sclerosis
2. I was diagnosed with it in the year: I believe it was 2000
3. But I had symptoms since: I was in elementary school
4. The biggest adjustment I’ve had to make is: Not getting upset if I can't do everything I want to because I am having a bad day.
5. Most people assume: That I am just lazy because I don't do much after work.
6. The hardest part about mornings are: Getting up when I have only had a few hours of sleep.
7. My favorite medical TV show is: I love everything in Discovery Health but they got rid of it because of the OWN network.
8. A gadget I couldn’t live without is: My cellphone that keeps all of my appointments.
9. The hardest part about nights are: Being exhausted and not able to sleep.
10. Each day I take 5_ pills & vitamins. (No comments, please)
11. Regarding alternative treatments I: I wish I could afford to do acupuncture because I hear that it really does help people.
12. If I had to choose between an invisible illness or visible I would choose: I would want a visible one
13. Regarding working and career: It is hard for me to go to work everyday because of lack of sleep and not feeling well but I have to work so I can have insurance even though we all know that insurance companies don't pay anything.
14. People would be surprised to know: That my hands are numb and I had to reteach my self to type.
15. The hardest thing to accept about my new reality has been: I can't think of anything because I have had this disease so long.
16. Something I never thought I could do with my illness that I did was: I have tried to not let the MS keep me from doing things. I do everything that I want to.
17. The commercials about my illness: I actually haven't seen a commercial about MS.
18. Something I really miss doing since I was diagnosed is: I miss not having energy.
19. It was really hard to have to give up: I don't feel like I have given up much because I have had this disease so long now and was diagnosed so young that it is just a part of who I am.
20. A new hobby I have taken up since my diagnosis is: Blogging and blog design
21. If I could have one day of feeling normal again I would: I am not sure what I would do. I can't imagine life without MS.
22. My illness has taught me: To live everyday to the fullest because you never know what your last day is going to be.
23. Want to know a secret? One thing people say that gets under my skin is: When they say they are sorry that I am sick.
24. But I love it when people: Take the time to learn about MS.
25. My favorite motto, scripture, quote that gets me through tough times is: "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have."
26. When someone is diagnosed I’d like to tell them: To learn all you can about the condition because knowledge is power. I also tell them that they are in charge of their condition and if a doctor wants them to do something that they are not comfortable with they need to kind a new doctor.

Can't Argue With Stupid!

I am going to start by saying that this post turned into arant about things that I haven’t written about before. Now I am sure there will be people who don’tknow the whole situation and will judge me because of what I am going to type. Just let me tell you that what you are aboutto read is mild compared to what he done to me in the course of our marriageand he is reading this then oh well!!! This is my blog if you don’t like it don’t read it!!

So a few weeks ago my husband sent me a message and asked mehow I was doing because he hadn’t heard from me in months. I told him to just leave me alone because Iwasn’t happy with him at all. He thenproceeds to ask why I was mad at him. Itold him because of the credit card. Forthose that don’t know the story of the credit card here it is. While we were married and getting along wegot a credit card for my husband to use instead of taking out cash advancesbecause the credit card had a lower interest rate. After we split up this last time I finallygot them to turn off the card after the total was to almost $11,000. So then we are left to pay off that amountbut he couldn’t charge anymore on the card. We needless to say he pays on it from time to time and up until recentlyI have refused to pay on it because I am not the one who ran it up. Not to mention I have so many doctor billsbecause he took me off of his insurance and didn’t tell me but that is a wholedifferent post.

Anyway back to the credit card. I have been getting calls from the creditcard company because he doesn’t pay it like he should. I have gotten tired of my grandparentsbitching about the credit card company calling all the time so I set uppayments for the next year to shut them up for a year. After the year is done I will figure out howI am going to pay for the rest of it. I am so excited to tell you all about Casey from Stress Case. First let me tell you that I love her design! It is super cute and something that I may do on my blog one day. Anyway while I was on her blog and reading different post of hers I saw that she does a series called What I Wore Wednesday. She posts pictures of what she wears and then tells where she bought the things at. I have always wanted to try a post like that but lets just say the clothes I wear aren't anything to be showing off. I loved all of her outfits that she has posted on her blog!

Another post she reflected back 6 months when she got married! I loved looking at all of her pictures from her wedding day. I never thought to do that kind of thing when my husband and I were on speaking terms but that is different post all together. I had to smile when she talked about going to the bar after the reception was over. I so should have do that. It would have been a blast! I can't get over how pretty she is and how happy she looked!

After I read her post about cake pops from Starbucks I was glad that I can't eat gluten or I would have had to go and get some! Here is the picture she had on her blog about them:

I have never had these but they look and sound amazing!!!!!! I once again have to thank god that I can't eat gluten because I would eat way to many of them if I could eat them. Just looking at the picture is making me hungry.

The funnest post I read of hers has to be "The One Where a Piggyback Ride Goes Terribly Wrong". Of all her posts this has to be my favorite. I am not going to give it away so you are going to have to go over to her blog and read the post!

All in all Casey is a great writer. It was so easy to get into her writing and understand what she is saying. I could read her blog all day long. She puts so many details into her post that you can follow the story. It is almost like you are there with her. Like when she talked about the cake pops. It really made me want to jump into my car and go and get one because the way she described them she made me want to go and get some!!!! Crazy. . .

What a week I have had. It has been crazy and I have hardly had the time to breathe let alone post to my blog even though I have so much to update about. As you can see I never got Freaky Friday Follow up this week either. It will be up next Friday just ran out of time this week to get it all set up. Anyway, My grandpa’s brother died on Sunday night and that has left most of my family depressed. My grandpa also lost his oldest sister just over a month ago. It has been a rough month to say the least. To top off my crazy week I have also started talking to the birth father of my daughters as well. I have always wondered what could have been with him and I but I wasn’t in a place to talk to him again. My daughter turned 6 in July and it has taken me six years to get to a place where I was no longer mad about going through it all alone. It is crazy how things have changed over the years. I am also amazed that it took 6 years for me to realize that how it happened was the best way for it to happen.

I started this post last week and I am just now getting around to finishing it. All I can say work is crazy right now and so is home life. As far as talking to my daughters father again I am not sure what will become of that. I am a firm believe that people are in your past for a reason but I truly wonder what would have been if things had been different. I hate the not knowing. I do wonder what can happen but at the same time I am scared to find out. It doesn't help matters that he is on the other side of the country either.

Okay I give up this post will just have to be ended here because I don't have the time to finish it! I hope everyone is having a good week and be on look out for my new design site and some great giveaways coming when I launch the site! Also I have a great post about my idiot husband to write up as well.

I swear if it isn’t one thing it is another thing. There always seems to be something wrong withme. I have been doing really well whenit comes to the MS and now I have a new issue. I would much rather deal with the MS that what I have going on now but Iguess I don’t get a choice in all of it. I think I have psoriasis (I haven’t gone to a doctor for it yet buteverything I have researched leads me to believe that I have it.) Psoriasis isa chronic condition in which the immune systems sends out faulty signals thatmakes the skin cells reproduce faster than they should. What gets to me is that this is another thingthat my immune system does wrong!!!! Iam starting to think that they should get rid of my immune system because it iscausing more problems that it is worth. There are several different types of psoriasis and I the one I have iscalled inverse psoriasis. This type isfound in folds of skin like your armpits, genitals and under breasts. They say that this type is aggravated mysweat and friction. Well what in theheck am I supposed to do now??? I guessI can use this as an excuse when doctors tell me I need to exercise. For me personally the spots that I have areitchy and painful to say the least. Right now I have it under both arms. They are ok on days that I don’t sweat and have my jacket on. I am glad that work is always cold because Ican wear my jacket and not look like a freak. They also say that there isprobably a genetic link but as far as I know I am the only one in the familythat has it but we all know that I am always the odd ball. I think I developed it because of the Tysabrithat I take for MS because of how the drug works it messes with the immunesystem. I will probably never know forsure what is causing it and it will never go away. It makes me sad to know that I now have todeal with this disease everyday for the rest of my life. It embarrasses me to say the least. I can only imagine what people think if theysee it. They look like big bug bitesmost of the time except when they get the “scales” looking tops on them. It is the weirdest thing I have ever seen andonce they start to peel it gets caught on things and hurts then it starts toitch.

An Update On Cinderella

Swearing Up A Storm

This week I chose to write about 3.) Opinion post:Write about how you feel about cussing in blog land? Acceptable? Unacceptable? Do you keep reading?

I personally don't care if people swear in their blogs posts because that is their space and who am I to tell them how to write. I don't swear on my blog but just because I don't doesn't mean that other people can't on their blogs. Everyone is different and some time swear words gets the point across. I would never stop reading someone because of how the chose to talk on their blogs. I get tired of people trying to push their views on me. I don't care and get tired of hearing people bitch and moan about things. I always say that if you don't like it then don't read it!!!!!

This is not even close to the topic but I think it needs to be said. I am so tired of the bullying and games people are playing in the blog world anymore. It seems that people are always fighting with each other anymore. I will never understand why grown adults still act like we are in high school! How hard is it to just ignore people if you don't like them or don't like what they say? It always seems to be someone fighting with some and instead of emailing the person they are mad at they put it on their blogs where the world can see it. I have stopped following blogs of people because I am tired of all the crap that is going on! I think people need to stop the drama and grow up!!!!!

Latest MRI

Last Thursday I had my latest MRI. I get one every 6 months because of the Tysabri. Lets just say that I know why they do it but it is a waste of time and money. I could see if you where having problems but I haven't been having any problems so it is just a waste. Anyways lets to get back to the topic at hand. I had it done Thursday and went to the doctor on Monday morning to get the results and see my neurologist. We according the MRI it shows that I don't have any new lesions on my brain but I am having more issues with balance lately. Since we weren't sure what is causing the balance issues she is having me get my necked scanned along with my brain the next time. I hate MRI's and adding the neck will just make it even longer!!! It is so hard to stay still for that long. My back ends up killing me and I always move a ton when they are doing the neck so they have to keep rescanning the same area. Oh well it has to be done!

That is all I having going on right now. I hope that everyone is having a good week!!!!!

How To Bath A Cat

*I took this from one of my best friends blogs. She is also the one who taught me about designing and she still helps me out when I mess up crap and need to fix it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.
2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted.
3. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids.
Note: You may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape.
CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for any surface they can find.
5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a “power wash and rinse” which I have found to be quite effective.
6. Have someone to open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.
7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.
8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.

Drug Addictions

This week for the writers workshop I picked to write about 2.) Amy Winehouse died. Another name amidst a growing list of talented celebrities lost to addiction. Your reaction.

It makes me sad to hear about anyone who dies because of their addictions. There are tons of people each year that die because of addictions and yet people only seem to care about the celebrities. It makes me sad to know that people do die because their brains think they need the drugs and alcohol. When I in college the fall Sophomore year, which is the same sememster that I got pregnant, I moved into a new dorm apartment and I was living with 2 drug addicts. I would go home on weekends because I worked at Kmart by my parents house. I would leave on Friday afternoons and when I got back Sunday night they were still on the couch when they had been when I left. I was going home for Thanksgiving and I realized that I hadn't seen the roommate what was staying in the dorms for the holiday. After I left I knew something was wrong so I called the housing office and had them go and check on her. By the time I got home which was 45 minutes later or so I got a call from one of the campus cops I knew that they found her dead. She was big into prescription drugs. The night before she had passed out on her bathroom floor but she was breathing and I refused to babysit grow adults. When I woke up in the morning she wasn't there anymore so I figured she had moved into her room.

It was such a shock to realize that her addictions killed her. I still look back and I can see what was happening and I watched her get in so deep with her addiction that it killed her. I moved home during Christmas break and I have always wondered what ever happened to the other roommate. I know she was into drugs heavy as well and I wonder if they killed her or if she is still around. I always hoped that she got sober but I doubt that she did. I hate to hear about other people that die because of their addictions because it is such a waste of a life. They miss out on so much all because of a drug they think they need to survive.

We need to focus more on the everyday people that die then on the celebrities that pass way. It is sad that they die but they do have more resources to get sober if they want to. Average people don't have the resources that celebrities do to get sober. We need to make more programs for people that need/want to get sober.

That post is random but that is how my brain works! I hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Look around, what do you think? See all the wonder that is my site design? Well Margaret, over at The World As I See It did her magic around here again! She did the original site design at blogger and I loved it, so she was on the top of my to-do list when it came to the new site.
I have to admit, things did not go as smoothly as one hopes, but Margaret handled it extremely well. She brought over the designs I wanted and set it up incredibly well. I know for a fact that she was up a good chunk of the night working on it so it could be up and running as fast as possible. It looks like I want it to look and it happened because of her.

Lately I have been feeling alone and I am not sure what has changed because I am doing the same things I have always done. I am for the most part a hermit but it usually doesn't bother me. I am sure part of it is because I used to have Misti at work to talk with and what not. Now that they let her go I am the only girl and I just sit at my desk and I don't have people to really talk to. I sit at my desk and answer the phones all day without anyone around to talk to. Then when I get home I go back to my room because I have designs that I need to get done so I am always alone. Most days being alone wouldn't bug me but lately it is starting to get to me. I know I should go out more but I am so tired after work and on the weekends that I don't want to. I have never been good at forcing myself to out either.

This post is super short but it is what I was thinking. I hope that it makes some sort of sense but if not oh well.

Work has been nuts the last 2 weeks. They let Misti go on the 30th of June. For those that don't know Misti was my boss and also the person who hired me. We worked together almost 4 years and now I am the one left. When we were bought out last year there were three girls and now I am the last women standing. I hate that I am the one left because I feel so bad for Misti not having a job and I am worried she won't be able to find a job. It is so strange at work to be the one that is left to hold down the fort. I really believe they wanted to keep Misti but I was the one who was doing what they needed done so I am the one left. Is crazy to come to work each day and not have her here. I am sure it will get better as the time passes but I have found that it gets lonely since I am the only girl here and it is super quiet because I am now the only one downstairs in the front of the building. There are three people in the back/warehouse but I am all alone in the front. I know in time it will be okay but it is just different to say the least.

I am not sure if you guys remember Blanca and Coco but they were two pitbulls that my friends friend owned. Long story short he couldn't keep them so I took both of them to live with my "friend". Well he got kicked out so Coco went to stay with Misti and Blanca they told me had to be put down. Well I never thought she has been put down. I figured they just lied because they wanted to keep her. Little did they know I wasn't going to take her because I had no place for her and they seemed to love her. Well yesterday when I get to work my Grandma called me and said that Coco got out. I had her call the lady back who found the dog and ask what color she was because where she was found what to far for Coco to have gone. Well it turns out to be the dog that they said they put down. Lets just say I was pissed off because they didn't need to lie about it. I am fine with them having her. It just pisses me off that they had to lie about it all. If anyone should have the dog it is me but I don't have a place for her. Maybe in time I will get her!!!! The white one is Blanca and the brindle colored one is Coco

This post has taken me all day to right because are crazy and I have to answer them and do everything else I do. I am not complaining about being busy but even being busy the time is still dragging! I am so ready for it to be time to go home so I can watch my shows. I hope everyone has had a great Tuesday!

A Big Thank You

I want to thank all of the people who have contributed to this blog. I am so glad that people have a place to go to share there stories. I am so glad that you are willing to share your stories. I know it is hard to type up the stories and it is also hard to put them out there because of how we are judge because of what we choose for our children. My hope is that this blog will show to other people that they can survive if they chose adoption for their children. I truly believe that awareness needs to be raised about adoption and there need to be more places for birth parents to go and find the support that we all need. It is so great to now have a place where I can go and talk to people who totally understand what I am feeling.

I want to thank you all and I hope you will continue to share your stories. Also if you know of any birth parents or anyone who has been touched by adoption please send them my way! I am always looking for stories so please feel free to email them to me!

Erika's Story

It all started when I was 16 yearsold. I was working at McDonalds at thetime. An absolutely gorgeous guy walkedin, and I thought that I just had to know him. I had one of my co-workers deliver my pager number (this was beforeeveryone had a cell phone) to him and I figured that was probably going to bethe end of it. Well, to my surprise, hepaged me later that day. I was soexcited that a guy that looked that good could possibly be interested in plain littleold me. We started going out and I wasbeyond thrilled. He turned 20 not longafter we started dating. My mom wasn’treally thrilled with the idea of me dating someone that much older, but I,being a dumb teenager, thought it was great.

After a couple of weeks of someheavy duty dating, the moment came when we took things to the next level. We were both very stupid and not reallyconcerned about the consequences of our actions. That one time was all it took for me to getpregnant. I remember sitting in thebathroom staring at the test with its positive result. I was so scared. I immediately started crying. How could I have let this happen? I brought a phone into the bathroom and triedcalling Sperm-man (that is what he shall be known as, from now on). He didn’t answer, right away so I had tothink of what to do next. I eventuallywas able to get him on the phone, and told him the news. His reaction was one of surprise. We knew we had some serious talking todo. I knew that I needed to tell my mom,but I just couldn’t do it right away. The next morning, before I left for school, I asked my mom if she wascoming home right after work. She askedme why I needed to know. I said that Ihad something to tell her. Well, sheconvinced me to tell her then. Needlessto say, neither of us had a very good day. Then the time came for me to tell my dad. Talk about a scary situation. We called him that night, and of course hewas extremely disappointed. As far as hewas concerned, my only options were abortion or adoption. I, on the other hand, knew that my PrinceCharming (aka Sperm-man) and I were going to raise this baby together and livehappily ever after. Um….well, that isn’tquite how things worked out.

Sperm-man and I continued to seeeach other until I was about 4 months pregnant. He then decided to move on to one of the biggest floozies that the worldhas ever known. They moved to CAtogether, which is where he learned that she really wasn’t a good choice. I was still determined to raise this baby,with or without his help. I got a crib,changing table, bassinet, and other various items. I was going to make this work.

Then one morning, about a month orso before my due date, I woke up and thought about what a bad situation I wasgoing to be putting this baby in if I continued with my selfish thoughts aboutmotherhood. I was a junior in highschool, with a year and a half left before graduation. I was also working full-time at BaskinRobbins after school and on weekends. The only time I would get to see my baby was for the short time beforeschool, and after work. That wouldn’t befair at all. I also wasn’t exactlymaking the big bucks at my job, and babies sure aren’t cheap. I sat down and wrote a list of pros andcons. The cons outnumbered the pros. I loved this baby in my tummy far too much toput her into this less than desirable situation. She deserved more. She deserved a mommy AND daddy to loveher. She deserved to be raised where shewould never want for anything. She deservedto be treated like the princess that she was. She did not deserve to be raised by a babysitter so that her teenage momcould try to prove that she could make this work. I told my mom of my thoughts and what Ineeded to do. We contacted an adoptionagency that was referred to us by a friend. I met with a caseworker, and not long after, I got to look at some familyprofiles. I instantly fell in love withone family. They had already adopted alittle girl, so my baby was going to have a big sister! It all felt so right. There wasn’t a whole lot of time to waste, soa short while later, I got to meet with the prospective parents. The meeting went really well. I showed them my ultrasound video and we tookturns asking each other lots of questions. I decided that they were theright family for my baby, and tried to focus on the realization that this babywas not going to be just my little girl anymore.

My due date came and went and shestill hadn’t made her appearance. 6 dayslater, she decided it was time to enter the world. She was born mid-afternoon, but we didn’tcall the adoptive parents right away. Iknew that my time with her was limited, and I honestly wasn’t ready toshare. I spent every possible secondwith her and had her with me all night. We called them the next morning to let them know that she was finallyhere. They drove up to see her and weall hung out in my hospital room until the last possible second I could bethere. We didn’t actually leave the roomuntil just before midnight. I got tohold her in the wheelchair as we exited the hospital. Handing her over to them was so unbelievablyhard, but absolutely necessary. I knewshe was going where she belonged and that I was doing what was best forher. My feelings needed to be set asideto ensure she got what she deserved. Iwent back to school 2 weeks later. Idecided to make the most of this decision, and I spoke, for the next few years,to sex-education classes, both junior high and high school, about the consequencesof unprotected sex. Talking was helpful,but at the same time difficult, because I was the only one there who had placeda baby for adoption. The other teensthat were talking had all kept their babies. Again, my feelings needed to be set aside so that I could maybe makesomeone think twice before making the same mistake I did.

The arrangement that I had with the adoptiveparents was for visits several times a year as well as pictures andletters. Well, unfortunately, that waspretty short-lived. I don’t want to sayanything negative about the situation, so I’ll skip over a lot of things. Basically, promises weren’t kept and I had nocontact at all with them from the time she was 4 until this past December, whenI found her on facebook. She is now15. I haven’t actually hugged her sinceshe was 2. I still haven’t had anyactual contact with her, but I have written (via facebook) to her adoptivemother, and have talked to her on the phone once. Things weren’t going smoothly initially, butwe are now on good terms, and I have a way to contact her, which is more than I’vehad in 11 years. I even have pictures ofher now! My firstborn baby girl is absolutely beautiful! She is doing better than I could have ever hopedfor. She is extremely well adjusted, andeven brags about being adopted! I can’twait until the day when I can finally hug her again!!

I havesince gotten married and had 2 kiddos that I get to be a mother to, andwho really hope to someday meet their big sister. Being a mother, when you’re ready, is thebest thing in the world! I now have ahusband that accepts me, drama and all, kids who think I’m the best mommy inthe world (not that they have anything to compare to), and the peace in knowingthat I made the absolute best decision for my first daughter. The years that passed where I didn’t knowanything about her were beyond excruciating. I was always worried and wondering if she was okay. I couldn’t understand why I was pushedaside. Now that I know that she hasn’tsuffered at all and is doing amazingly well, I am at peace.

Natalie Aubele Birth Story

My son, Kamale, was conceived as the result of a one-night stand. We used a condom, but I got pregnant, anyway. When I told the father, he said that he didn't believe it was his, stating, "I need a baby like I need a hole in my head." He had moved to the other end of the state right after the conception, never came back, and, after the birth, never met his son. I didn't and still don't know his last name, so it's probable that Kamale will never know his father, whom I know only as "Otis."

During my pregnancy, my attorney, who was helping me regain custody of my daughter Paeoni, who was 3 at the time, advised me to give up Kamale for adoption. I refused, adamantly insisting that I would not choose one of my children over the other, and that I wanted to be in both of their lives.

My mother traveled across the country to be there for the birth. She drove me to the midwife-run birth center, and during the trip, his head started coming out in the car! I told my mother that I could feel it coming out, to which she jokingly replied, "No! Suck it back in!" Luckily, Kamale only partially came out, but once we made it to the birth center, I was on the bed for only 8 minutes, on hands and knees, before he was born! My birth was completed with no drugs whatsoever, 100% natural! He was 9 pounds, 9 and 1/2 ounces, a big boy! I was elated when he was born, and he immediately began breastfeeding.

I was a stay-at-home mother, and breastfed Kamale, for the first eight months of his life. He was very healthy. But I was not. Over time, I began developing severe mental health symptoms. I grew increasingly depressed, even paranoid, and started hearing voices. My isolation increased, and soon, I just wasn't a good mother anymore.

When I called my therapist to share the reality of my situation, I knew I would be tagged a risk to my child and that the authorities would be notified. I didn't care; I wanted my child to be safe, even if it broke my heart to be without him. My therapist called the police, who took me to the local psychiatric emergency room. Child Protective Services also got involved, and Kamale was placed in foster care.

During the early days of his foster care stay, Kamale lived with my pastor, his wife, and kids. Since they knew me, they allowed me to visit him three times a day and to breastfeed him. We attended church during one of these visits. This service was the most powerful one I have ever attended. A song I will remember forever, "Your Grace Is Enough" by Chris Tomlin, played. As I held Kamale in my arms, I vowed before God, "This is not happening anymore. And if it means Kamale and I can't be together anymore, so be it."

During an interview with my social worker, I admitted that I was not yet ready, after four months of reunification services, to have Kamale returned to my care. I told her that I did not yet feel I was safe to be with my son. Two months later, in a court of law, my parental rights were terminated and Kamale was soon adopted by his foster family.

Although I am not allowed visitation rights, I do receive letters and pictures of Kamale every six months. I have run into the adoptive mother twice in town, and she tells me he is doing great. I can see from the pictures that he is happy, healthy and loved. I am so happy for him, and though the pain of losing him is excruciating at times, I am proud to have brought him into the world and glad he is able to have a better life than I could have provided for him.

We Got A Facelift!!

If you had read Flute It Up before about two or three days ago, you've notice a slight change in our layout. That's right, instead of using a traditional blogger pre-made template - we've turned completely and totally SMEXY!! For YEAH!

About a month or two ago, I joined a giveaway at Simply Stacie and http://kellysluckyyou.com/ Ok - I actually joined about 25. They were having this super duper blog giveaway where they gave away a bunch of amazing blog facelifts. I was SO excited when I learned that I had actually WON! WAHOO!! A free blog prettification from The World As I See It owned by the fabulous Margaret.

Margaret and I sent e-mails back and forth for weeks. She is absolutely amazing, if you can't tell from my beautiful blog! She grasped onto the style I wanted immediately and made everything work perfectly! I now have an awesome banner, a button (which you may grab at any time), coolio headers on my 2 sidebars, and pretty little Twitter, Facebook, and E-mail icons!

Margaret was fabulous to work with. In just a few words from me (being basically blog-beautifying-illiterate) she was able to make this amazing design. I don't know how she did it, and if she told me, I probably still wouldn't understand. Everything is EXACTLY how I imagined it. I had always dreams of having a pretty blog and my own button and stuff, but I just figured I would have to wait until my blog was a little more well known.

Hardest Thing About Blogging

This week for the Writers Workshop I picked #3-What do you find most challenging about blogging?

I find a lot about blogging challenging but that is because I want to know how everything works. I am getting into design blogs and that leaves little time to actually write blog posts. It amazes me how people can design blogs and also find time to blog as well. I guess part of my problem is that I work from 8-5 Monday through Friday and then go home at work on designs. I seem to be working all the time and that leaves little time to actually blog. I also have a hard time trying to figure out what I want to write. I have tons of post sitting in my drafts folder but I don't know how to finish any of them. I always have great ideas for post and then after I start them I get busy and never finish them.

Put me in charge . . .

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for
Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans,
blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want
steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women
Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test
recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and
piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get
tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks?
You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your
"home" will be s ubject to inspections anytime and possessions will be
inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your
own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or
you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of
trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We
will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo
and speakers and put that money toward the “common good.”

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of
the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before
you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem,"
consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for
doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's m istakes we should at least
attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system
rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is
correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will
voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t
welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

I handed the teller @ my bank a withdrawal slip for $400.00
I said "May I have large bills, please"
She looked at me and said "I'm sorry sir, all the bills are the same size."
When I got up off the floor I explained it to her....

When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our
car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service
department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver
side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried
the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. 'Hey,' I announced
to the technician, 'it's open!' His reply: 'I know. I already got that
side.'
This was at the Ford dealership in Canton , MS

IDIOT SIGHTING
We had to have the garage door repaired.
The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not
have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at
that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower.' I
responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4.
He said, 'NO, it's not..' Four is larger than two.'

We haven't used Sears repair since.

My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I
gave the clerk a $5 bill.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.' I said, 'Yes I know, but this way
you can just give me a dollar bill back.
She sighed and went to get the manager, who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the quarter, and said 'We're sorry but we
could not do that kind of thing.'
The clerk then proceeded to give me back $1 and 75 cents in change.

Do not confuse the clerks at McD's.

I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office
to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road.
The reason: 'Too many deer are being hit by cars out here!
I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'

My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceburg lettuce.

The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of mine. She
asked if I knew what the buzzer was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.
Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving?!'

At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker who was leaving the
company due to 'downsizing,'
our manager commented cheerfully, 'This is fun. We should do this more
often..'
Not another word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that
deer-in-the-headlights stare.

This was a lunch at Texas Instruments.

I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into itself
and for the sake of her life, couldn't understand why her system would not
turn on.

A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriffs office, no less.

This child attends a school in Kansas City , Mo. .
Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong.
It's pronounced "Ledasha".
When the Mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said,
"the dash don't be silent."
SO, if you see something come across your desk like this please remember
to pronounce the dash.
If dey axe you why, tell dem de dash don't be silent.
